Changing Keyboard Language and Locale Settings

Information about changing keyboard language and locale settings.

The Open Access Labs computers are equipped with various keyboard language and locale settings. These are user settings that are relatively simple to change and set up.

Here are general instructions for adding a language to a roaming profile for the Open Access Labs.

Note: Use of individual language or locale options is left to the user. We can only instruct on how to add the option to your profile. This document should provide enough information to set up the language or locale of your choice.

  1. Go to the Control Panel by clicking Start > Settings > Control Panel (see Figure 1).

  13. Click OK and the added language SHOULD now roam with the user.
  14. To change between your selected languages, you should see a small icon in the Task bar near the clock. By default, it shows "EN" for English. Click this icon (see Figure 7).

  16. In this example, you can change it to Japanese, which changes the icon to the ones shown in Figure 8 and Figure 9 (depending on what applications are open or what options you are trying to use from the language locale).
