How to Change the Look of Your Start Menu

Information on how to change between the Vista and older Windows OS start menus.

  1. Right-click the Start menu. Go to Properties.
  2. The Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window opens (see Figure 1). Click the Start Menu tab. For the Vista start menu, choose Start menu. For the Windows 2000 look, choose Classic Start Menu. In the Open Access labs, you may use either one, although the Vista start menu will be the default.

  3.    After selecting the button for the menu you want, click Apply. When satisfied with the look of your Start menu, click OK.
