Microsoft Excel and Data Analysis

FAQ about setting up Data Analysis in Excel.

Why isn't Excel automatically set up for Data Analysis so I can do my Statistics class homework?

Many of the settings for Excel are user settings, as opposed to local machine settings. The Data Analysis add-in is one that needs to be set up by the user. Since Excel does not become set up in a user's registry and profile until one first uses Excel, Data Analysis is not set up in the user's profile ahead of time.

How do you set up Data Analysis for Excel?

Open Excel and click the Office Button icon.

Click Excel Options in the bottom-right corner (see Figure 1).

Click Add-Ins on the left menu. The Add-Ins dialog box appears (see Figure 2). Select Analysis ToolPack and Analysis ToolPack - VBA from the list provided. After clicking OK, you can then select the Data tab and find Data Analysis on the far right of the screen.
