Downloading Software for a Statistics Class

Instructions for downloading .iso files for Statistics classes.

I need a program for my Statistics class. My teacher said I can download it in the Open Access Labs. How do I do this?

First, you need to map a share drive.

  1. Open My Computer.
  2. Under Tools, select Map Network Drive.
  3. In the Folder field, enter \\ersatz\Stat. If you want to change the drive letter, use the drop-down box.
  4. Click Finish.

An additional drive has been added to your drives in My Computer. Double-click the new drive, and you will see several .iso files listed. Your instructor should have told you what files you will need. Copy them to the local machine to burn them to CD. The best place to copy them would be to C:\temp on the local machine.

  1. Do not close the window where the .iso images are located.
  2. Open My Computer.
  3. Double-click the C: drive (Local Disk).
  4. Double-click temp to open the folder.
  5. Go back to the Stat share drive window where the .iso images are located.
  6. Click and drag the image files needed to C:\temp.
  7. You can now burn the files to CD using the CD burning utilities.

Note: Be sure to copy the .iso files to the local machine (C:\temp) before burning the CD. If the network hesitates and you are burning the .iso files from the server and not the local machine, your CD will be ruined.
